Haumoana School encourages a close partnership with whānau to ensure that tamariki are well supported to succeed with pride as Māori learners.
Our whānau group meets regularly for hui to plan school events, provide feedback to school and to support tamariki.
Our large Kapa Haka group meets weekly on Thursday afternoon from 2:10pm to 3:00 pm and children of all ages are invited to participate. Tutors are well-supported by staff and parents at weekly Kapa Haka session. All whānau are welcome to attend.
All classes enjoy weekly Te Reo Māori lessons taught by a tutor and the new learning is reinforced on a daily basis in classes. Most teachers have completed Mauri Ora Level 2.
Matariki is a special feature of Term 2 at our school. The term-long count-down and celebration is a result of a strong partnership between home and school and it reflects the value placed on New Zealand’s cultural heritage.
